Michael Ley is a former City of Auburn employee, having served under mayors Burt Dickman, Norman Rohm and for a short time, Norm Yoder. He has more than 20 years of service in the state, county, and city government, having served as administrator of the Auburn Department of Building, Planning, and Development. He also is a longtime community volunteer who is involved with numerous local and area nonprofit organizations and social service agencies. Ley and his wife, Sara, have three daughters and two grandchildren. They are the owners of Signature Construction, a local general contracting company, providing residential and commercial construction. Signature Construction has been active in the construction and development of numerous buildings, structures, and improvement projects throughout DeKalb County and the surrounding area. |

Sarah grew up in DeKalb County and is a graduate of DeKalb High School and Purdue University at West Lafayette. She began her career in the retail sector working in both store management and property management. In early 2013 she began work as the executive director for the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival. She threw herself into the work of community development, serving on a variety of nonprofit committees and boards. Payne said she found her true passion in her service on the board for Auburn Main Street. She said there she has found a place where her effort, enthusiasm, and dedication can create lasting change in a meaningful way. Payne is currently the executive director of the DeKalb Health Foundation and oversees community outreach for the hospital. She resides in Auburn with her husband, Mike, sons Charlie, 13 and Tucker, 9, and their rescued basset hounds.
